The Guangdong Drug Administration held a press conference on August 27 to announce the completion of the pilot program of the "Hong Kong and Macao Medicine and Equipment Connect" policy at the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital (HKU-SZH). The experience in practice gained from the pilot program will be extended to other cities and designated medical institutions in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). The first 5 designated medical institutions in the mainland are in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Zhongshan.

These designated medical institutions can use imported drugs and medical equipment that are already in the market and used in public hospitals in Hong Kong and are urgently needed for clinical use. The designated medical institution in Zhongshan is the Zhongshan Chenxinghai Hospital (tertiary hospital).
