Li Shaowu, Party secretary and general manager of the Zhongshan Branch of China Telecom, and other staff members were invited to the live broadcast program "Friday's Voice of People" on August 20 to interact with citizens on such topics as 5G network and smart city building.

Li said that since 2019, the Zhongshan Branch of China Telecom has accelerated the construction of 5G base stations, with a total investment of 619 million yuan. Some 2,571 base stations have been built, of which 2,097 have been put into operation, and the central areas of towns and sub-districts now have universal coverage. According toChina Telecom'sdevelopment plan, 5G network will cover 90% areas of Zhongshan by the end of this year.

Over the next three years, the company will focus on 5G and cloud computing technologies and pursue integrated development of Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, smart home and industrial internet in order to power the construction of a smart city and high-quality economic and social development.
