To trace the origin and circulation information of the vegetables and meats available at a marketplace, consumers now only need to scan the QR code attached on them. This system has been on a trial operation for 4 months in Zhongshan and is now subject to an inspection launched by commerce authorities at national, provincial and municipal level.
Director Lin Weiqiang of Zhongshan Municipal Bureau of Commerce introduced that Zhongshan is one of the 4th batch of cities approved by Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Finance to construct a tracing system for vegetables and meats. As the only pilot city in Guangdong Province, Zhongshan puts in a lot of efforts into this livelihood and innovation project. It is the only one among all the pilot cities that innovatively adopted IOS model, a mechanism to incorporate government efforts with market operation, to ensure the durable efficiency of the system.
