Invited by a principal of Yongyi Primary School, Dongfeng Town 20 years ago, Xie Shimu came to teach PE in the school. Due to inadequate funding, he made knives, spears, swords and sticks with bamboos, sticks and wooden panels he could find. It is with these “unqualified” equipment that he taught kungfu on the uneven ground for 20 years. The kungfu program of Yongyi Primary School develops from “zero basis” and has helped the school win the honor “Schools with Excellent Kung Fu Programs in Zhongshan” for 12 straight years. Xie Shimu has taught over 40 students with strength in kungfu skills and many champions in Guangdong Province Sports Meetings. He has also been honored as “advanced PE workers” for 12 straight years.
