"Retracing the Road of Heroes", an annual event of Guishan High School of Zhongshan, was held on the morning of December 4. Over 1,000 grade one senior high school students walked 22 kilometers along the footsteps of revolutionary martyrs to learn about the history of their bloody struggles.

On January 15, 1945, the Pearl River Column of the Guangdong People's Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Forces was established, and its headquarters was located in Gu's Ancestral Hall. In those days, the soldiers of the Pearl River Column used Guishan High School as their stronghold along the Wugui Mountain path to mobilize the people and spread anti-Japanese war sentiments. Many teachers and students of the school thus joined the Pearl River Column.

In order to cherish the memories of martyrs during this struggle, Guishan High School organizes this event every year for incoming students since 1995.
