Educational figures of the year

Last night a group of devoted people --- some actively involved, others quietly devoted --- was brought into spotlight for their selfless work for education in Zhongshan: they were awarded the honor of Educational Figures of the Year. Liang Lixian, director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Zhongshan Municipal Committee, and Vice Mayor Wu Yuexia attended the ceremony.

On the list of 2011 Educational Figures some household names can be easily found: He Youlin, principal of Zhongshan Memorial Middle School, Lin Wenbin, retired American professor who kept coming back to Zhongshan every year to give free education to students in Zhongshan Institute and Wu Liudongcheng, generous donator for education. Also can be observed on the list are some rising stars in education.

The election of Educational Figures of the Year will be held every two years to promote respect for education and people dedicated to education.
