Mayor Chen stressed the optimal, scientific and all-round development of education

After becoming an educationally powerful city in Guangdong Province, Zhongshan has been included the first batch of cities that will first realize modernization in Guangdong Province. Mayor Chen Maohui made a research visit yesterday afternoon about the educational situation in Zhongshan. Mayor Chen expressed that it is a strategic task to promote an optimal, scientific and all-round development of education.

In his first stop at the No. 1 Middle School, Mayor Chen expressed his great appreciation for the school’s educational style featuring “quality teaching as a core while general education & art education as its wings”. Mayor Chen wished that the school could make bolder exploration and innovation to bring forward more educational fruits.

It is learned that after Zhongshan established itself as an educationally powerful city in 2005, a total of 12.74 billion yuan has been invested in education during the 11th-five-year period with a 17.13% increase annually. For five years in a row, Zhongshan has ranked No. 1 in Guangdong for its college enrollment rate and for seven years in a row, Zhongshan has remained No. 1 for the grades in the five competitions.

Mayor Chen said that to realize the modernization of education, we should promote an optimal, scientific and all-round development. Talking about the optimization of education, Chen particularly mentioned 9 educational projects covering pre-school education, compulsory education, regular secondary education, vocational education and special education.
