Vice Mayor Han Zesheng met yesterday with Stefan Gallon, Consul-general of Germany in Guangzhou, and his delegation who came to Zhongshan to attend the New Year’s reception of Southern China branch of the German Industrial and Commercial Chamber. Han made the suggestion that Zhongshan and Germany co-work to develop the training of vocational skills. With more efforts to transform and upgrade Zhongshan’s industrial structure, and especially in the context of devoting major efforts to developing equipment manufacturing, skilled technicians are in surging need. In recent years, Zhongshan has beefed up vocational education. Taking the elevator industry for example, a training school for elevator technology has been set up in the Southern District Elevator Base to meet the demand for talents.
Han said, Germany’s advantages in manufacturing and standard skills hold a strong appeal to Zhongshan, so she hoped that German’s teachers and experience of training professionals and technicians can be introduced to Zhongshan and the two parties can make cooperation in the related aspects. Han also suggested that the cooperation could begin with the training of teachers. In this way, not only can Zhongshan’s demand for talents be satisfied, but also can they output talents to the whole nation.
