Closure construction has begun on the left side of the main navigation channel section of the Modaomen Grand Bridge, part of the Xianghai Bridge. The construction process was expected to be completed on the evening of July 20, which lays a foundation for the opening of the Xianghai Bridge in October this year.
At present, residents in Tanzhou Town who want to go to Zhuhai's Doumen District need to make a detour to Tanshen Road North, Zhuhai Avenue and Huxin Road, which costs a 30 minutes' drive. Once the Xianghai Bridge opens to traffic in the future, they can get on the expressway via Anfu Toll Station, and it will only take 10 minutes to reach Huxin Road.
The Xianghai Bridge project will include Jietan, Lixi and other 5 toll stations as well as 4 interchanges on Western Coastal Expressway and Guangzhou-Zhuhai West Expressway.
The 29.8-km Xianghai Bridge spans Zhongshan and Zhuhai. It starts from Tanzhou Interchange on Western Coastal Expressway in the north and ends at Huxin Road in Doumen District. The main line has 3 lanes in both directions, with a speed limit of 100 km/h; The branch line also has 3 lanes in both directions, with a speed limit of 80 km/h.
