West main tower of Lingdingyang Bridge seals its top

The west main tower of Lingdingyang Bridge of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge sealed its top on July 19. As the east main tower sealed the top previously on June 17, the Lingdingyang Bridge will begin a new stage of construction on its superstructure.


Currently, the 2 main towers stand at 262.5 meters tall and the remaining 7.5-meter steel crown will be installed on the top of the tower after the steel box girders of the main bridge are finished.


Lingdingyang Bridge is one of the main sections of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge, with a main span of 1,666 meters. Its main towers are 270 meters high, which is equivalent to the height of a 90-story building. It is the largest-spanning steel box girder suspension bridge and the bridge with the highest amount navigable clearance over waterways in the world.
