The first offshore concrete box girder of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge was set up on June 25, signaling the beginning of the centralized construction stage for the superstructure bridge.

The box girder is 60 meters long, 20 meters wide and 3.5 meters high, and weighs 2,752 tons, the equivalent of the weight of 1,800 cars.

"To improve the efficiency and safety of the operation, we used the 'Tianyi' vessel to erect the box girder. 'Tianyi' is a fully-electric monohull ship with a special crane for offshore girder erection," said Chen Jianbo, deputy chief engineer of S07 contract section of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge Project of China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Co Ltd.
