A project to renovate the Nantou-Huangpu section of the Nantou-Sanjiao Expressway in Zhongshan was announced to the public.

The Nantou-Sanjiao Expressway is a major east-west highway in the northwest part of Zhongshan. The Sanjiao-Huangpu section reconstruction was started in 2020.

The renovation project will begin at the intersection of Yuanlin Road on the east end of the Nantou Bridge in Nantou Town, passes through the central areas of Nantou and Huangpu towns, and ends at Zhikui Road on the west side of the Huangshali Bridge. The project covers a total length of 12.83 kilometers, and the road section will be upgraded to a first-class highway and urban expressway. Six main lanes and four auxiliary lanes will be built, with a 60 km/h speed limit on the main sections and 30 km/h on auxiliary sections. The project is estimated to cost 1.75 billion yuan.

The project mainly includes interchanges connecting the Nantou-Sanjiao Expressway to Xingye Road, Guangming Road, Dongfu Road, Xinfeng Road, Xinming Road, Aoxin Road, Dongfu Highway and Huangpu Expressway, expansion of the Xinsha Bridge, additional pedestrian crossing facilities, and pavement repairs.
