On June 17, after about 12 hours of continuous construction, the east cable tower pillar of the Lingdingyang Bridge section of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge was filled in with concrete. It marks the first main tower of the world's longest spanning offshore steel box girder suspension bridge has sealed its top.

"After the completion of the concrete-filling step, the height of the east main tower reaches 262.5 meters, and the remaining 7.5-meter tall steel crown will be installed at the top of the tower after the installation of the steel box girder of the main bridge," said Chen Bingyao, engineer on the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge project.

The total height of the cable tower will be 270 meters. The east cable tower pillar is made with a total of about 50,000 cubic meters of reinforced concrete and 7,400 tons of steel bars, the same amount used in the Eiffel Tower.
