A groundbreaking ceremony for the Section B of the Zhongshan East Outer Ring expressway was held in Sanjiao Town on the afternoon of April 28.

The East Outer Ring, Nansha-Zhongshan Expressway, Zhongshan-Kaiping Expressway and others will form an expressway network, which will promote communication between the eastern areas of Zhongshan and the emerging areas along the routes. After its expected completion in 2024, the East Outer Ring will open to traffic together with the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge.

The Phase I of the East Outer Ring starts in Huangpu Town, connecting with the Guangzhou-Zhongshan-Jiangmen Expressway, and ends in Nanlang Town, connecting with the Zhongshan-Kaiping Expressway. It is about 35.363 kilometers long in total, with 4 terminal interchanges and 4 service interchanges along the route. The total investment of this project is 22.93 billion yuan.
