The 53rd Term Board Inaugural Ceremony of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong (CGCC) was held on December 1. Dr Jonathan Choi Koon-shum, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, permanent honorary president of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Industry and Commerce Federation, and a well-known folk from Zhongshan, was inaugurated as the 53rd chairman of CGCC.

At the inaugural ceremony, Choi said CGCC would organize major forums and exchange activities to cement ties between Hong Kong and various areas, further improve its internationalization level and promote the development of the Greater Bay Area.

Choi, with Zhangxi Village in Zhongshan's Shiqi District as its native place, returned to China for investment in 1979, introducing modern technologies, as well as techniques and experience of business administration for the reform and opening-up of China. Over the years, he has been devoted to the construction of his hometown and the development of science, education and public welfare.
