Four containers loaded with nearly 100 tons of demerara greenheart and acacia logs were recently imported via Shenwan Port after being cleared by Zhongshan Port Customs. This is the first lumber import business in Shenwan Port within the last two years.

"The development of timber import business can lay the foundation for the recovery and development of Shenwan Port," said Yu Jun, general manager of Shenwan Port Freight Joint Venture Co Ltd.

In the first quarter of this year, some 16,200 tons of logs were imported through Zhongshan Port, 21% more than the same period last year.

Next, Zhongshan Port Customs will continuously improve timber supervision measures, provide timber import enterprises with customs clearance services such as one-on-one declaration guidance, preferential inspection and inspection appointments to further enhance the supervision ability of customs and fully promote the expansion of timber import.
