Dongsheng Town is the youngest town in Zhongshan. It was separated from Xiaolan Town in 1986 and was named Jilong Town. In 1987, it was renamed Dongsheng Town. Tanbei Town was merged into Dongsheng Town in 1999. Dongsheng Town has 8 communities and 6 village committees, covering an area of 75.82 square kilometers. There are 74 thousand local residents and 10 thousand non-local people in Dongsheng.
