During the 2023 New Food Crop Variety and Technology Exhibition held at Zhongshan Modern Agricultural Technology Promotion Demonstration Base on June 26, "giant rice" was the most eye-catching variety among others.

Giant rice, a new "star in the field", is well received by agricultural scientists and farmers in recent years. This year, after studies on water and soil, climate, market and other factors, giant rice has been introduced to Zhongshan for the first time and is under trial growing planted in Minzhong District and South District.

"The estimated dry grain yield of giant rice is about 600 kilograms per mu, which is more than 200 kilograms higher than that of conventional rice," said Chen Guojun, a staff member of the Zhongshan Agricultural Technology Promotion Center.
