Some citizens have found various nameplates hung on the tree trunks or erected in parks in central urban areas. These placards display the plant's information and were set up by the Zhongshan Urban Landscape Management Center.

"The name, genus, features, blooming season, practical uses, and other information of the plant are shown on the placard in detail via scanning a QR code." A worker from Zhongshan Urban Landscape Management Center took out his mobile phone and scanned the code, then detailed information on the mango tree and the locations of other mango trees in the park were displayed immediately. The information also can be introduced by voice.

After learning about a plant, citizens can use the "Plant Knowledge Competition" feature to answer questions and earn reward points, which can be used to redeem potted plants.

"We hope to spread plant knowledge to the citizens, broaden plant variety recognition, and raise awareness of protecting green urban spaces." According to the worker, there are currently 4,121 plant information placards, covering 333 plant varieties in Zimaling Park, Children's Park, Sun Wen Memorial Park, Yixianhu Park, Famous Tree Garden, Qijiang Park, Rainbow Oasis Park, and the garden paths on both sides of Xingzhong Avenue.
