The 3-day “2010 Cross-Strait Forum on Dr. Sun Yat-sen” was inaugurated in Sun Yat-sen University yesterday. Over 200 experts and scholars engaged in the study of Dr. Sun Yat-sen communicated on the theme of “Spreading Spirit of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and Revitalizing China by Joint Efforts”, and would pay a visit to important historical scenic spots such as the Former Residence of Dr. Sun Yat-sen in Zhongshan. Wang Yang, Secretary of CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, Wang Yi, Director of Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, and Yu Muming, Chairman of the New Party of Taiwan attended the opening ceremony and addressed the meeting.

On the forum, Wang Yang introduced the development of Guangdong. In recent years, the cross-strait economic, social, and cultural communication has become increasingly frequent, and the academic exchange activities on the thoughts of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s are vigorous, playing an important role in enhancing cross-strait communication, inheriting Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s spirits, and fostering peaceful development of cross-strait relationship. The establishment of “Forum on Dr. Sun Yat-sen” fully represents the willingness of both sides to strengthen exchanges and deepen cooperation.
