An urban opera Shengxi Tea House, organized by Zhongshan Culture, Radio, Television, Press and Publication Bureau and undertaken by Zhongshan Culture and Art Center, was staged in the Grand Theater of Zhongshan Culture and Art Center on the evening of Jan. 15. Lei Biao, Vice Secretary of Zhongshan Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of Politics and Law Committee, met with the cast before the show.

On the most familiar scene to native Cantonese, Shengxi Tea House unfolds before the audience the roses and thorns of the society in tea drinking and dim sum tasting through the unique perspective of a small tea house. The opera unveils the social conflicts, arousing reflections on the audience via laughter and tears.
