Wu Guixian’s Wife first appeares in the parade

Wu Guixian is overseas Chinese who can never be forgotten in Zhongshan. He used to sell his houses and support the education in Zhongshan and built Zhongshan College. Mr Wu died of disease in Japan 2001 and his wife Wu-liu Dongcheng carries his will of charity on ever since. She takes two daughters and one granddaughter to participate in the parade yesterday.

Mrs. Wu will be 90 years old in this June. She carries on his husband’s will after his death in 2001. She takes her children to keep passing love. She comes back from Japan every year to participate in the awarding ceremony of Wu Guixian Education Foundation. In 2011 she is awarded “Yixian Award” for her special contributions.

As a consultant for Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Association in Yokohama, Mrs. Wu takes her two daughters and one granddaughter and ten-odd overseas Zhongshanese back to Zhongshan for the charity parade before Lantern Festival. She tells reporters that it is the first time for her to participate in the Parade. “I hope they can learn something about Zhongshan’s sense of fraternity and love and feel why their father or grandfather would sell his properties for charity.
