The yearly Charity Parade will be launched this Sunday. Since 2013, Zhongshan will carry out “Philanthropic Cultural Week” activities around the Lantern Festival every year, so as to spread the benevolent and philanthropic cultures more widely and profoundly and promote Universal Moral Cultivation Movement.
The first Zhongshan “Philanthropic Cultural Week” will last from Feb 20 to 26, during which a series of activities about Charity Parade will be held. This year’s Charity Parade will be adjusted to begin at 3pm on Lantern Festival and is expected to witness more people than last year, including over 1,500 overseas folks, more than 80 foreign friends and Zhongshan-born world champions, and near 2,000 folk art performers. The subscription to Charity Parade has exceeded 97 million yuan so far, which will be used in large public welfare programs, humanitarian aid and poverty alleviation. Zhongshan takes the lead in the country to establish a Red Cross Supervision Board consisting of Zhongshan NPC and CPPCC members to supervise foundation operation and use of the funds. Theme activities such as Care for Migrant Children, “The Able and the Disabled Enjoy Together” Charity Sale and Auction Fair will also be held during the week to advocate respecting life, publicize knowledge on voluntary blood donation, hematopoietic stem cell donation and human organ donation, and call on local citizens to commit in signature to join in “Three Donation” and attend the Moral Cultivation Lecture with the theme on charity. Care for In-patient Children in Holidays will also be held for the first time.
