Xingzhong Avenue was full of happiness with various decorations yesterday because Zhongshan Charity Parade 2011 was held there. In the parade, there were 120 units of 20000 people participating in the campaign, which reveals a special charity culture in the hometown of Sun Yat-sen—the Great Man.
All walks of people attend the ceremony and parade, including many leaders from the nation, Guangdong Province and Zhongshan City—Wang Wei, Party Secretary of China Red Cross, Lei Yulan, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province and Chairman of Guangdong Red Cross, Tang Bingquan, Vice Chairman of Guangdong Provincial People’s Political Consultative Conference, Xue Xiaofeng, Secretary of Zhongshan CPC Committee, Yu Rongwei, Vice Chairman of Zhongshan People’s Political Consultative Conference, Chen Maohui, Vice Secretary of Zhongshan CPC Committee, and Lv Weixiong, Director of Foreign Affairs Committee of Guangdong Provincial People’s Political Consultative Conference, etc.
This charity parade with the theme of “Fraternity and happiness spread to every household” was started at 3 p.m. yesterday.
In the front row were leaders—Wangwei, Lei Yulan, Tang Bingqan, Xue Xiaofeng, Yu Rongwei, Chen Maohui, and so on—and they greeted to bystanders on the sides of the road as waving colorful flags. They are followed by other units from all walks of people. The crowded Xingzhong Avenue was full of love and care.
“Grandness and Shock” were used by Wang Wei to express his impression on this campaign. In his opinion, charity parade is an excellent charity brand and Zhongshan’s cultural feature as well. Wang highly thought of Zhongshan’s charity parade and hoped to spread it to other cities.
When he was interviewed Xue Xiaofeng felt prouder of his participation in this charity campaign in person than of his knowledge about the event only from the media in the past. This year’s charity parade is very significant for construction of a harmonious and happy Zhongshan, because it will help build up a dominant socialist value—philanthropy, tolerance, creativeness and harmoniousness.
According to Xue Xiaofeng, love and care needs some campaigns as carriers and Zhongshan Charity Parade can carry out the very mission. With a history of 24 years, Zhongshan Charity Parade has been a beautiful name card exerting more and more influence at home and abroad.
It is told that with supports from all walks of people, this campaign hit a historical record in both participant number and charity fund raised. Before the parade, ceremonies were also held for Top 10 Citizens and charity fund transfer.
Zhongshan Charity Parade 2011 was right held on the Chinese traditional festival—Lantern Festival.
Leaders from China Red Cross, Guangdong Province and Zhongshan City are at the first row of the parade.
