The 23rd Charity Parade in Zhongshan takes “Fraternity and happiness spreading the whole city” as the theme, and will be held from December 22nd, 2009 to February 28th, 2010. Around 10,000 people will attend the Parade on February 28th, 2010.

35 municipal leaders, including Party Secretary Chen Genkai and Mayor Li Qihong, donated money for 2010 Zhongshan Charity Parade yesterday afternoon. A total donation of 29,400 yuan was raised on the spot. Taking the lead in donating for the annual Charity Parade, the municipal leaders are willing to play an exemplary role for the charitable causes in Zhongshan. Zhongshan Red Cross organizations in all towns and districts raised 37.27 million yuan, in which the municipal Red Cross raised 1.5 million yuan.

After the intense earthquake in Haiti, Zhongshan citizens successively donate money through the Red Cross. So far, a donation of 4,200 yuan for Haitian earthquake stricken areas has been collected by Zhongshan Municipal Red Cross. With an amount of 2,000 yuan, the biggest individual donation comes from a young man in Zhongshan. It is the wish of Zhongshan people that the money should be donated through Red Cross to Haitian people who have suffered earthquake disaster.
