Vice Governor of Guangdong Province Lin Musheng inspected the sewerage treatment plant and urban waste treatment center of the city. He highly praised the achievements of the coordinated development of Zhongshan's economy and environmental protection.

Great achievement has been made in environmental protection in Zhongshan in recent years. The urbanization rate is 74.3%, the central treatment of urban sewage rate reaches 86.58%, which stands for the leading position in water treatment domestically; all the main rivers and atmosphere of the city reach excellent quality; forest coverage achieves 16.3% and public green land area per capita have reached 18.53 square meters; noise control, hazard-free treatment of urban household waste and industrial solid waste have also been the leading ones in the cities of the same kind in the country.

Mayor Li Qihong introduced the reasons why Zhongshan could keep an environment friendly development while realizing 22.8% growth of the economy. Zhongshan government is always holding the belief of the "Three Suitables" ("suitable for residence, suitable for business, suitable for innovation") in the process of probing a scientific development method of all-round, coordinated and sustainable development of Zhongshan.
