As one of the famous movie-stars in modern China history, Ruan Lingyu who has an origin in Nanlang Town is known for her acting talent and legendary life. For commemorating centennial anniversary of the 1911' Revolution, the town authority is promoting sponsorships for the woods, parks and ancient trees with various methods. “Wood of Ruan Lingyu" is the first commemorative woods, and in the near future“Wood of Sun Yat-sen”will be planted.

Since 2007, to encourage residences to garden around their houses, Nanlang government have set the first quarter of every year as planting season. The town has invested 83.86 million yuan in the greening project. At present forest coverage rate of the town account for 31.8% with its forest area of 82,000 Mu and the average green land per person reached 13.3 square meters. In recent years, the town has won awards of National Famous Green Town and National Beautiful Town.
