A seminar named “Low carbon development and innovation in town” was held in Xiaolan Town yesterday morning. Xiaolan Town and Institute For Sustainable Communities (ISC) will cooperate and promote the town’s development of low-carbon town and introduce the “Sino-us climate action partnership” project.

With its experience and technical strength in the field of low-carbon development, ISC will make a whole cooperation with Xiaolan and work with Xiaolan’s government institutions, enterprises, communities, and schools and so on to promote the low-carbon development of the town.

In early 2008, Xiaolan has finished the energy conservation targets of the "11th five-year plan" ahead of time and promote energy-saving and low-carbon lifestyle in primary and middle schools in the whole town. In addition, the town has installed 4330 LED lamps on 72 km road by implement “LED lamp energy saving and transformation demonstration project”, results in 50% cut of electricity, which equals to 974 tons of standard coal.
