In the past year, East District achieved a record-breaking output value: 10.8 billion yuan, ranking No. 3 in Zhongshan. Service industry has become a major engine for East District’s economy, producing an output value totaling 30.5 billion yuan, 16% up compared with last year. Moreover, greater emphasis has been attached on education, an important element to forge the features of East District. Just last year alone, 97 million yuan has been injected to develop education and a 250-million-yuan project is in plan to build a demonstration senior high school in Baishawan.
