The electronic information industry in Torch High-tech Development Zone hit 23.8 billion yuan in the first three quarters of 2009, up 17 percent.

From 2001 when the first exhibition was held to 2009 when the 9th exhibition is to be held, the nine years witnessed nearly ten times increase in the annual production value of the electronic information industry in Torch District, from 3~4 billion yuan in 2001 to the estimated 30 billion yuan this year. Through 10 years’ cultivation and development, the electronic information industry in Torch District is likely to enter a new “stage of leap and bound”. Attracting over 150 electronic information enterprises from over 10 countries and regions including America, Japan, Canada, Korea, China Hong Kong, China Macau and China Taiwan, Torch District has formed an electronic information industrial cluster of certain scale. The total industrial output value reached 27.6 billion yuan in 2008, accounting for 34 percent of the total industrial output value in the whole district, and 30 percent of the total industrial output value in the electronic information industry in the whole city.

Torch Hi-tech Development Zone will implement the strategy of Big Electronic Information Industrial Base for the next step. Linhai Industrial Park plans to build an Electronic Information Industrial Park with an area of 167 hectares, and a big electronic information base has taken shape, which will greatly promote the development of electronic information industry within the zone; in respect of investment attraction, efforts should be made to encourage the introduction of items with less land occupation, less pollution, lower energy consumption, and higher technology content and more tax; relying on the present electronic information industry base, the integration of technological and institutional innovation, traditional industry transformation, policy guidance of new industry development, and market regulation should be insisted, so as to enhance the core competence of enterprises, and promote the optimization and upgradding of electronic products and industrial structure.
