Shanghai E-bus plans to establish manufacturing and R & D base in Zhongshan
2011-05-12

Shanghai E-bus New Energy Tech Co. Ltd. will inject in 500 million yuan to establish a Pearl River Delta Manufacturing Base in Linhai Industrial Park in Torch Development District. The base is mainly to manufacture quick-change battery system for electrically-driven buses. In March this year, the corporation has made quite a mark in providing products and tech support for Zhongshan’s first e-bus route and the first e-bus charging station.

Shanghai E-bus has accumulated rich experience in related aspects by serving as a major supplier of e-bus charging equipment and integrated operating service for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the 2010 Shanghai Expo and the 2010 Guangzhou Asia Games. The corporation is planning to be listed in Growth Enterprise Market by 2013-2014 so as to raise more money for its expansion.

So far, Shanghai E-bus has invested in Shanghai and Beijing to build factories. The Pearl River Delta Manufacturing Base will be located in Linhai Industrial Park and involve a total investment of 500 million yuan with an annual output value of 2 billion yuan. The base takes up an area of 200 mu with the building area 170,000 square meters. This strategic new industry is a support project for the Foton and CITIC Guoan MGL programs which have already landed in Torch Development District.

According to the project plan, the objectives for this manufacturing base are to form an integrated battery-change network in Pearl River Delta, reaching the annual manufacturing capacity to 1000 quick-change battery systems, to establish a robot-operated assembly, installing and adjusting base, maximizing the annual manufacturing capacity to 160 charging stations, to set up a production line with a yearly productive capacity of 20000 inner and outer containers, and to create a training base able to provide service training for 50 charging stations.

On the basis of cooperating respectively with Broad-Ocean Motor, Jonjee Hi-Tech, and CNOOC, Zhongshan now plans to strengthen co-op with more upstream and downstream enterprises of new-energy vehicles, building first an industrial cluster of key parts of new-energy vehicles and then an equipment manufacturing base and R&D center. By 2012, it is expected that the battery industry can realize a 10-billion-yuan output value, and gradually achieve the goal of producing an entire car.
