Zhongshan-ASEAN trade increases by fifty percent for the first six months
2010-07-15

China- ASEAN “10+1” free trade zone has been officially set up on January 1 this year. Zhongshan’s enterprises grasp the opportunity in this brand new yet golden and open market, especially when they have been stricken by the slow markets of Europe and America in financial crisis. Therefore, enterprises have been speeding up to expand their markets in the ASEAN. It is learned from Zhongshan Customs that from January to June, Zhongshan-ASEAN trading value has reached 1.03 billion US Dollars, increased by 56.5 percent, which made ASEAN the fifth biggest trade partner of Zhongshan.

Despite the good start, experts from Zhongshan Customs remarked that the city should be well prepared and make a precautious plan to take up high-end market and also take the leading position. In contrast, the exports characterize now in low value-added, low content of technique. ASEAN’s consumption will be upgraded to the high-end production, with the increasing purchasing ability. In addition, enterprise will compete for the new market, so the competition will be more intense in the near future. High-end market will be the top priority of the enterprises in ZHongshan. For that reason, Zhongshan’s traditional enterprises should adjust their export products to fit for the new market.
