Guzhen Town is situated at the northwest periphery of Zhongshan and the junction of Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Foshan City, adjacent to Hong Kong and Macau, with a total area of 47.8 square kilometers. Lighting industry is the leading and pillar industry of the town. Since 1982, Guzhen Town has become the largest production base and wholesale market of lighting fittings in China and one of the top specialized markets of lighting fittings worldwide. After more than ten years’ guidance and support, a ten-kilometer lighting street has been formed with over 1,000 lighting enterprises. In 2002, the town was awarded China’s Lighting Capital by China National Light Industry Council and China Association of Lighting Industry, forming the industrial cluster of characteristic economy and core competitiveness. There are now more than 5,000 registered enterprises engaging in lighting fitting production, employing 60,000 people. Guzhen’s lighting fittings products controlled 60% of the national market while these products are not only sold in domestic market, but also popular in the market of Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, U.S. and Europe. In 1999, the first China (Guzhen) International Lighting Fair was held in Guzhen, ushering a phase of favorable exhibition economy for Zhongshan. The fair has been held successfully for 6 times and achieved great economic and social benefits. It will continue to hold the fair in Oct. every year to build up the famous exhibition brand home and abroad.
