Sunwen Xi Pedestrian Street, once called Ying’en Street, connects Zhongshan Department Store in the east to Fengming Road in the west. The low buildings along both sides of the street present a typical Nanyang architecture style, a combination of the European colonial style in the late 1890s and the early 1900s with the traditional Cantonese sotto portico style. The storied buildings adjoin together to form a magnificent arcade for pedestrians against rain, wind or the strong southern sunshine.

On holidays or festivals, the pedestrian street often presents various recreational activities, such as singing, dancing, acrobatic performance, folk art performance, riddle contest, large-scale promotion activities and etc.

Main sights include the bronze statue of a pedicab, an embossment depicting the hustle and bustle of the traditional trading street in its heyday, Zhongshan Museum of Commercial Culture, Sihao Hotel and Youth Plaza.
