A ceremony was held on March 12 at Sun Yat-sen's former residence in Zhongshan to commemorate the 99th anniversary of the passing away of the statesman.

The activity was attended by about 200 people, including city leaders, relatives of Sun Yat-sen, representatives of various political parties, associations of industry and commerce and non-party personages, heads of relevant departments and mass organizations, representatives of the Sun Yat-sen Research Institute and relevant institutions, people from Hong Kong and Macao, Taiwan businessmen and relatives, overseas Chinese and relatives, as well as teachers and students from the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Secondary School and Cuiheng School.

Floral baskets from over 50 departments and organizations as well as from Sun Yat-sen's relatives were presented to his portrait at the ceremony.

Participating city leaders and relatives of Sun Yat-senalso visited the exhibition themed on "Sun Yat-sen and the First Cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China" that the Museum of Dr Sun Yat-sen organizes for the public.
