The 100th box girder was successfully installed on the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge's offshore non-navigable span on December 19, with a total erected length of 8,550 meters.
The 100th steel box girder measures 133 meters long, 20 meters wide, and 4 meters tall, weighing 1,780 tons, equivalent to nearly 1,000 cars. China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Co Ltd is responsible for the installation.
The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge is about 24 kilometers long. The bridge section spans 17 kilometers, and the offshore non-navigable span is about 11.4 kilometers long. A total of 138 steel box girders and 155 concrete beams are required for the entire project.
So far, fifty-one steel box girders and forty-nine 60-meter concrete beams have been erected. The remaining box girders are expected to be installed by October next year.
