This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the international friendship city relationship between Zhongshan and Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. On the morning of September 30, Zhongshan mayor Xiao Zhanxin held a video conference with Burnaby mayor Mike Hurley. Both sides together watched a video highlighting the friendly partnership between the two cities in the past decade, and exchanged insights on further deepening cooperation and enhancing friendship.
Xiao Zhanxin noted the healthy economic development of Zhongshan, with investment from over 50 countries and regions and nearly 4,000 foreign-funded enterprises. Burnaby boasts rich experience in such areas as urban management, scientific and technological innovation and environmental protection that is worth learning. The Zhongshan mayor expressed his sincere hope that both sides can further deepen cooperation, strengthen friendly communications, promote economic and trade interactions, and push forward mutually beneficial cooperation.
Mike Hurley said that in the past 10 years, Burnaby and Zhongshan have developed fruitful cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, culture, social management and student exchanges. He hopes that both sides can expand their cooperation by achieving more results in commercial trade, science and technology, etc.
