The Food Safety Committee of Guangdong Province recently announced the second model cities for food safety of Guangdong. Zhongshan made the list with a comprehensive score of 93.9.

In recent years, Zhongshan has made significant progress regarding food safety, without systemic and regional major food safety accidents taking place. Zhongshan people's satisfaction rating towards food safety increased from 72.82 in 2016 to 83.5 in 2020, and Zhongshan has been rated as excellent or A level in the provincial food safety assessment for consecutive years, indicating that the food safety supervision efficiency has been greatly improved.
