The Olympic flame was slowly extinguished while melodious and ethereal music played, marking the closing of the 32nd Summer Olympic Games on the evening of August 8 at the new Japan National Stadium in Tokyo.


Athletes from 206 delegations entered the stadium in turn. Su Bingtian, who set the Asian record in the men's 100 meter dash with 9.83 seconds in Tokyo, entered the stadium, bearing the Five-Starred Red Flag of China.


Chinese athletes participated in 225 events across 30 major competitions in Tokyo 2020. After 16 days of competition, China won 38 gold medals, 32 silver and 18 bronze, ranking second in the gold medal tally and the medal table with 88 total medals, The number of gold medals achieved this year equaled the best result by China in an overseas Olympic Games.
