Chinese sprinter Su Bingtian clocked in at 9.83 seconds in the men's 100m semi-final in Tokyo 2020. He made it to the final as the first seed from the semi-finals, setting a new Asian record with his time.

Two hours later, Su took sixth place in the final with a time of 9.98 seconds, making history for Chinese track and field.

"I feel ecstatic to run the 100 meters in under 10 seconds twice in such a short time. Today is the best day of my whole life," Su said. "I hope I can further display the speed of China in the 4×100m event a few days from now."
