Mayor Jiao Lansheng investigates cross-river traffic congestion

On the afternoon of January at rush hours, Mayor Jiao Lansheng investigated the cross-river traffic congestion occurred in Dongming Bridge and Changjiang Bridge. He convened an on-site meeting to learn about the reasons behind the traffic congestion and coordinately resolved the existing problems.
Mayor Jiao Lansheng was reported the traffic condition at the junction of Dongming Road and Minke Road West. According to traffic police department, averagely 42 thousand cars travel bidirectionally through Dongming Bridge per day, leading to heavy congestion in particular at rush hours.
Jiao Lansheng pointed out that at present the only two north-south cross-river bridges are no longer capable of meeting the traffic demand. In order to fundamentally resolve traffic congestion problem, Zhongshan plans to add two more cross-river bridges and an underwater tunnel to improve the river-crossing capacity.
